Coffee is grown under the shade of native rainforest trees that have been there for many years. The Hartmans try not to cut down trees, replanting native trees and bananas to maintain the natural cycle and healthy soil and wildlife.
The farm, also called Nuguo farm, is located between 1,750 and 1,950 meters in the area of Jurutungo, Renacimiento, in the province of Chiriquí, nestled between a natural reserve of tropical rainforest on one side and the border of Costa Rica on the other side. The location and setting of the plantation is very challenging, with cold temperatures at night, lots of wind and rain.
Today Hartmann farm is a family business: each member of the family is passionately involved in the management and plays a different role in the growth, production and tourism of the farm. Coffee for them is a way of life, their culture, their family: a lot of work, but also a lot of love. His employees return every year, as do his buyers, because they like his vision: to work together with nature, to work the land without destroying it.
